Ridiculously Easy One-Ingredient Ice Cream uses only bananas to create an amazing dairy-free, refined sugar-free, and healthy dessert that the whole family can enjoy.
Peel and chop the bananas in smaller pieces or chunks. Put the banana pieces into a freezer bag. Place the bag in the freezer overnight or until the bananas are frozen solid.
Add the frozen bananas into the bowl of a food processor. If the bananas pieces are all stuck together, try to break them apart to ensure they can be broken down in the food processor (see notes).
Pulse the bananas. Stop periodically to scrape down the sides of the bowl and to make sure no pieces of the frozen bananas are stuck.
Continue pulsing and stopping to scrape the sides until the bananas break down.
Then switch to blending. Let the food processor run until a smooth and creamy custard begins to form, scraping down the sides if necessary.
If the result is too soft and runny, scoop the ice cream into a freezer-safe, air-tight container. Place in the freezer for a couple of hours until the ice-cream is set.
Four bananas yields approximately 2 cups of ice cream.
Store any leftovers in a freezer-safe, air-tight container.
Notes
You can work in small batches when blending the frozen bananas, especially if using a blender. Try starting with just a third or half of the frozen bananas. Once they are blended into ice cream, pour that into a bowl and continue blending the rest.
