A refreshing twist on a classic Mexican dessert, this Dairy-Free Berries with Cream is made with a silky blend of yogurt, coconut condensed cream and sweet, ripe berries. It's light, nourishing and comes together quickly for the perfect summer treat.

Fresas con crema was a beloved dessert growing up, simple, creamy and light. Over the years, I've created different versions that keep the tradition alive but with dairy-free alternatives, like my Strawberries and Cream and Duraznos con Crema.
This version with mixed berries, or frutos rojos con crema, is just as easy and refreshing, with a combination of juicy summer berries and a smooth dairy-free cream made from yogurt and coconut cream. The yogurt adds probiotics and a gentle tang, while the coconut cream gives it a rich texture. Best of all, it's a simple, no-bake dessert that comes together in minutes and is great for the whole family!
Let me show you how easy it is to make.

Ingredients & Substitutions
You just need a handful of ingredients to make this easy dessert. I like using a mix of fresh, ripe berries for a burst of color and natural sweetness. For the cream, I prefer my Homemade Coconut Condensed Milk, but store-options work too. If you'd rather make it with dairy, check the recipe card for substations.
See recipe card for other ingredients and quantities.
Step-by Step Instructions
- Make the Cream: In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, coconut cream, condensed milk and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Chill: Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld and the cream thicken.
- Prep the Berries: Wash the berries thoroughly and slice the strawberries in quarters.
- Plate the Dessert: When ready to serve, spoon berries into a small cup or bowl and top with a scoop of the cream mixture.
Hint: I don't recommend mixing the berries and cream together in a large bowl, unless you are serving it right away. Letting the berries sit too long in the cream will make them mushy and watery. For the next texture, keep them separate until serving.

Nutpods Creamer
In place of the coconut cream, I also like to use Nutpods. It is a dairy-free creamer made of a combination of coconut cream and almonds. Use my code EVERYDAYLATINA to get 15% off your first order.
How to Serve
This dessert is best served cold. I like to layer the berries and cream in individual dessert cups. You can also add a sprinkle of chopped nuts, shredded coconut or fresh mint for a little extra flavor and texture.
Storing
Store the berries and cream mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator. The cream will last up to 3 days, but the berries are best enjoyed 1-2 days after slicing.

- cutting board
- Knife
Ingredients
- 1 lb mixed fresh berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries
- 8 oz sweetened condensed coconut milk
- 1 cup dairy-free yogurt coconut, almond, or soy
- ½ cup coconut cream or original Nutpods
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1-2 tablespoons sweetener (optional, see notes) such as sugar or honey
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, coconut condensed milk, coconut cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the cream to thicken.

- In individual glasses or bowls, add a couple tablespoons of the mixed berries, then top with a scoop of the creamy mixture. Continue layering the berries and cream until the glass or bowl is full.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- I don't recommend mixing the berries and cream together in a large bowl, unless you are serving it right away. Letting the berries sit too long in the cream will make them mushy and watery.
- For a dairy version, replace the yogurt, coconut condensed milk and dairy-free creamer with sour cream, regular sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk.
