Smooth, rich, and bursting with berry flavor, Creamy Blueberry Agua Fresca is a luscious twist on a Mexican classic. Blending sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and juicy blueberries creates a deliciously, velvety texture. The natural sweetness of the berries balances beautifully with the creamy base. It is an indulgent, yet refreshing and nourishing drink. Plus, with a dairy-free option, everyone can enjoy this agua de arandanos cremosa.

One of the things I love about aguas frescas is how versatile they can be. Some are light and refreshing, like Pineapple Cucumber Agua Fresca or Agua de Mango, while others have a rich, creamy texture that almost makes them dessert-like. Today's creamy agua fresca falls into the latter category, with a silky consistency and a flavor that reminds me of a fruity, milk-based smoothie but with the simplicity of an agua fresca.
Like other creamy concoctions, such as Agua de Plátano and Creamy Strawberry Agua Fresca, this recipe comes together with just a few ingredients. It is an easy and quick recipe that is ready to enjoy with minimal effort.

Ingredients & Substitutions
- Blueberries: Fresh or frozen blueberries both work for this recipe.
- Water: I prefer to use cold, filtered water for a smoother taste.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: Sweetened condensed milk adds all the extra sweetness you need, plus contributes to the creaminess. Either store-bought or homemade coconut condensed milk can be substituted for a dairy-free and vegan option.
- Evaporated Milk adds creaminess and richness. For a dairy-free or vegan option, use almond milk or evaporated coconut milk.
- Vanilla Extract (optional): I love adding a touch of vanilla which helps intensify the flavors.
- Ice
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
- Wash Blueberries: Soak the blueberries in a large bowl filled with water and a splash of vinegar. Drain and rinse under cold water.
- Add Ingredients: Add water, condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla, blueberries 2 cups of water and ½ cup of ice to a blender.
- Blend: Blend for 2-3 minutes until completely smooth.
- Mix: Pour into a large pitcher and mix in two more cups of cold water. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour until cold or serve immediately over ice.
Hint: For a smoother consistency and to get rid of any small seeds from the blueberries, you can strain the agua fresca after blending through a fine-mesh sieve.

Vitamix Blender
I use my high-powered Vitamix every day. It blends aguas frescas so well that there is no need to strain.
How to Serve
Before serving, stir well as there might be some separation and settling.
I suggest serving it in clear glasses and garnishing with fresh blueberries.
Storing
This agua fresca tastes best when freshly made. However, you can store in an airtight bottle or container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Be sure to mix or stir well since the drink will settle after storing.
Tips and Variations
- Adjust Sweetness: You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sweetened condensed milk. If you prefer it to be less sweet, I suggest staring with about ¼ cup and add more as needed.
- Try a Slushy Version: Blend with a couple more cups of ice for a thick, smoothie like drink.
