This Agua de Durazno is made with ripe juicy peaches, a squeeze of fresh lime, and just enough honey to let the peach flavor shine. It's light, refreshing, and an easy way to enjoy one of summer's best fruits while it's at its sweetest. If you have access to Colorado's famous Palisade peaches, this is a delicious way to use them.

Peaches have always been my favorite fruit. I love eating them on their own, sometimes with just a sprinkle of salt, but I also love using them in recipes like my Duraznos con Crema and Peach Pico de Gallo. Living in Colorado means I also get to enjoy Palisade peaches every summer, and when they're in season, I always bring extra home. That's usually when I start looking for new ways to use them, and how this agua de durazno came about.
I wanted to keep the recipe simple and let the peaches do most of the work, so I blend them with water and add honey simple syrup to taste. A squeeze of fresh lime gives the drink a little brightness without taking away from the peach flavor.
I love that you can adjust this agua fresca to your preference. Leave it unstrained for more body and fiber, or strain it if you prefer a smoother drink. And because ripe peaches already bring plenty of natural sweetness, you may find that you need very little added sweetener.

Ingredients & Substitutions

- Fresh peaches: Use ripe, juicy peaches for the best flavor. I don't peel mine before blending, but you can if you prefer. Since the peaches provide most of the flavor and natural sweetness, this is one recipe where using fruit that's actually ripe makes a big difference. Nectarines can be substituted since they have a similar flavor and texture to peaches.
- Water: Water keeps the agua fresca light and allows the peach flavor to shine without making the drink too concentrated.
- Sweetener: I like using honey simple syrup because it blends easily into the cold agua fresca, but you can use another sweetener if you prefer. Start with a small amount and add more to taste since the sweetness of peaches can vary.
- Lime juice: Fresh lime juice is optional, but I like adding it because it brightens the peach flavor without making the drink taste like lime.

Step-by-Step Instructions

- Cut the Peaches: Wash and cut the peaches into smaller pieces for easier blending. There is no need to peel them.

- Add Ingredients: Add water cut peaches, and lime juice to blender.

- Blend: Blend for 1-2 minutes or until completely smooth.

- Strain (Optional): Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher if you prefer a smoother agua fresca. You can also leave it unstrained for more body and fiber.

- Add Water and Sweeten: Stir in the remaining cups of water until well combined. Add honey simple syrup or your preferred sweetener to taste.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until well chilled. Serve over ice.

High-Powered Blender
Since the peaches are blended until completely smooth, a good blender is great for this recipe. I use mine for all of my agua frescas because it creates a smooth drink in no time.
How to Serve
This peach agua fresca is best served cold over ice. For a pretty presentation, garnish with peach pieces or a peach slice and a wedge of lime.
I especially love serving it alongside summer Mexican dishes, Chuck Roast Carne Asada, tacos, or a simple lunch on a hot afternoon.
Storing
Store in a covered pitcher or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. The peach pulp will naturally settle or separate, especially if you leave the drink unstrained, so give it a good stir before serving.
Tips From My Kitchen
- Use very ripe peaches as this will improve the flavor of the agua fresca and decrease the need for much added sweetener.
- Taste the agua fresca before adding sweetener as peaches can vary in sweetness.
- Chill for at least 1 hour as this will help the flavors come together.
